Top Dream Jobs: Bed and Breakfast Owner

I picked up a copy of our local business magazine, OC Metro, and found an article about 25 Dream Jobs. I'm always interested in seeing what other people do for a living. Some jobs completely mesmerize me: creating video games or working in television, for example. An old friend of mine had a husband who worked for a major network writing the teasers that you see for upcoming shows; he used to work out in the gym with the cast of Friends, and this always seemed like such a glamorous life to me (no matter how much he grumbled about his job!)

So what are some dream jobs that found their way to this list? And are they something that you would like to pursue? You tell me!

The first dream job that caught my eye was that of inn keeper. I have actually dreamed about owning a little B&B in the mountains, where I would decorate each bedroom in a certain theme and serve free wine and snacks every evening around six. I would also host a murder mystery dinner once or twice a year, and each guest would be asked to participate by dressing the part.

I can easily see the potential downsides. You never escape because you are always there, particularly if you live at the inn. Plus, scheduling a vacation must take careful consideration, because you can't go at peak times since this is when people will be visiting you, and you will have to turn people away if you are leaving town and someone calls up to reserve a room during that time (unless you have others working for you). Overall, though, I'd love to run a quaint B&B, in which I would also showcase local artists and their wares, such as photographs, ceramics, jewelry and such.

Check in later for another great dream job. In the meantime, if this sounds like something you'd enjoy doing, drop me a line and tell me how you would set up your little inn in the woods (or by the sea!) And if you are already running a B&B, let us know the ups and downs of this dream job.

Bed and Breakfast are the private houses used for commercial purpose. This is also very much useful for the visitors with limited budget as this also costs lesser than the hotels. Bed & breakfast very useful for the house owners also as they can also earn some more money utilizing their own residential houses. B&Bs often delight for the high levels of services and personal touch and the care that they are capable to provide. I use http://www.BnBStar.com, http://www.BnBStar.co.uk; and http://www.BnBStar.ca as they present very detailed information about inns and surrounding areas.
