This blog is part of a series on transcription. If you haven't read the other blogs in this series, make sure to check out the summary page for a listing of all transcription blogs. For part three of this interview, please click here.

This is the last of the M-TEC interviews with Susan, Director of M-TEC. This blog we cover what support is available to graduates going out into the medical transcription field:

Is there graduate support offered to newly graduated students, to help them get their first job? Absolutely. We are currently looking at a near perfect placement rate for our Tier I and Tier II Premier course graduates. We work very closely with students and medical transcription companies to help them find the right fit on both sides.

What MT companies have hired M-TEC grads, and have said that they are interested in hiring more? We work with at least 50 MTSO's (medical transcription service owners) who are actively testing and hiring M-TEC graduates on a regular basis. Some of those that would be readily recognized would be Webmedx, Spheris, MedQuist, Datakey, MedWare, Accuscribe, most of the Sten-Tel offices, and most (if not all) of the large and small national services currently hiring entry-level medical transcriptionists. We also work with hospitals and clinics across the U.S. and Canada to help place our graduates.

What are the biggest strengths M-TEC grads bring to their new jobs? They bring a solid knowledge base in the core competency areas as well as advanced transcription practicum with an awareness that this is a career choice and not simply a "type at home" position. They understand the importance of technology (and know how to use it) and all about patient confidentiality and other issued surrounding our industry.

Well, that's a wrap! Many, many thanks to Susan for her time and energy in regards to this series. I really appreciate her help and her willingness to be interviewed by a lowly blogger like me. ;) Again, if you are interested in M-TEC, the website can be found here.
