Looking for the Perfect Data Entry Job? I May Have Your Answer...

Recently, I talked about data entry, and how there aren't many real data entry jobs that can be done from home. Today I wanted to talk about the perfect data entry job: It pays very well ($15 - $20 per hour on average) and is flexible about when the work needs to be done--any time during the month is just fine. The catch? You can't do it from home. Okay, so maybe it's not the perfect data entry job, but it's pretty close!

The official title for the job is "Researcher" although that makes it sound more difficult than it really is, I promise. I should know--I did it for several months last summer, and did really well with it. I didn't start out at $15 an hour (more like $4 an hour) but that was my own fault. More about my stupidity later, I promise. For now, I wanted to go over exactly what it is that a courthouse researcher does.

In a nutshell, a courthouse researcher will go down to their local courthouse and go to the public access computers where they will sit and conduct searches for specific information. They are looking to find all mortgages registered at the courthouse (the company I worked for only wanted the mortgages between $25,000 and $1,000,000, but that may be different in a different company, I have no clue.) They are going to be pulling the same information for each mortgage: The name of the person buying the home, the date of the registering of the sale at the courthouse, the amount of the sale, the address of the home bought, and who the mortgage was done through (which bank.) This is very simple information, and after having to find the same info over and over again, a researcher will start to get really fast in finding that info.

Which is good, because the research companies will only pay between $0.20 and $0.35 per record (depending on the company) that is pulled--they expect it to be fast and easy, and they pay accordingly.
